A book for remembering, treating and supporting: Alzheimer's between science, humanity and relationships
The book published by PAGEPress and dedicated to non-pharmacological treatments for neurocognitive disorders was presented at the Civil Hospital of Alessandria.

The presentation of the book ’ Trattamenti di riabilitazione neuropsicologica, psico-educazionali e psico-sociali nei disturbi neurocognitivi lievi o maggiori dovuti a malattia di Alzheimer e demenze correlate (Neuropsychological, psycho-educational and psycho-social rehabilitation treatments for mild or major neurocognitive disorders due to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias), published by PAGEPress and promoted by the Associazione Amici della Biblioteca dell'Ospedale (Friends of the Hospital Library Association).
The text is the result of an experimental project that represents a virtuous example of integration between scientific research and clinical practice in the field of geriatrics and neuropsychology. A choral work, the result of the experience gained by the team of the Neuropsychology Outpatient Clinic, affiliated to the Psychology Department of the University Hospital of Alessandria, led by Dr. Antonio Pepoli, and carried out thanks to the contribution of the scholarship-holder psychologists Arianna Mandrilli and Deborah Moretto, coordinated by Dr Aldo Bellora, Director of the Geriatrics SC and of the Department of Rehabilitation and Geriatric Medicine.
Starting with cognitive stimulation and psychological support groups, the team carried out a needs analysis of the assisted population, launching an observational study involving 49 patients and their families. The book is divided into four chapters: the first two outline the epistemological basis, the theoretical and methodological models of the project; the other two offer a direct and shared account of the clinical experience, with the voices of the two psychologists who worked closely with the patients.
The book is not only a scientific publication, but also an act of care and a testimony to the daily commitment to the dignity of the fragile person, in the name of research that becomes relationship and medicine that becomes community.
PAGEPress is proud to have contributed to the dissemination of this work, which combines scientific rigour and human sensitivity, and which represents a fundamental step in building a more aware and supportive future for patients with cognitive disorders and for those who take care of them every day.
